Telling friends who give fuck all about cars how long I’ve spent detailing my twenty year old Saab...

Is like telling a catholic priest it’s not OK to abuse choirboys, they hear the words, but they can’t fathom what you’re saying..

The battery on my phone died early on, so I’ve only got one picture so far..

Kinja'd!!!

Haven’t touched anything but the paint so far.. 30 hours spent, 30+ more to go (If you look just below the door, see all that white grime? The whole car looked like that when I started).

She cleans up nice. Do you have another pic of the wheels?

Also, nice to see you back! Haven’t seen you posting for a while.

Do what? “Fix” paint that looks like shit? Wash, deep clean, clay, rubbing compound, polish, wax.. and many many hours.

The wheels are completely shot.. curbed to death. But I’ll try to snap a picture tomorrow. They are just some cheap 17"s bought new tyres earlier this year.

Nice to be “back”, I’m kinda busy working, not much time for tha interwebs.

Fak. I was hoping there was some magic solution you had. Are you using a buffer or polishing by hand?

Both machine and hand.. I had to wetsand it here and there, and I’d never do that with a machine. I’ve got 5 different machines, this guide should give you an idea, bear in mind I’m no pro.. I just like shiny cars.

My plan is to coat the car in some sort of ceramic protection when I’m done, and then I’ll probably apply some sort of pure carnuba after that.. I use nothing but my hands when it comes to wax.

People think I’m mad, crazy or indeed pathetic for enjoying cleaning cars for free to relax, but it doesn’t stop them asking me to do theirs.

To 99.9999% of people they either don’t care about how clean their car is or consider clean as no large chunks of dirt on the car.

As long as you enjoy what you do, screw the haters.

Cool! Nice to hear that you got a new job. What are you doing?

I’m a big fan of giving your car a complete detail as a way of relaxing from your job and clearing your mind. Manual labor is so the complete opposite of my day to day job that it helps me relax.

Hah :) priest gag made me chuckle

I must admit, I'm not certain I understand either. For me, cleaning is something you do when there's nothing else more important to do at that point (which with my fleet of projects is pretty much never).

I don’t have any money to spend on parts right now, so cleaning it is ;) As soon as get some money I’ll start replacing a whole bunch of parts.

Yeah that makes sense :) I haven’t seen any pictures of the whole thing yet (didn’t even know you’d got one!).

What’re the deets? Looks like an old 9000. Love those things :)

1996 Saab 9000 CD 2.0 (non-turbo). tuning chip from Maptun (about 10% more power and torque = 145HP/ 148 ft lb), lowered about 40mm (1,6 inches), podfilter, 2,5" catback exhaust, 215/45 tyres on 17 inch wheels. Tinted windows.. Just ordered slotted discs front and rear.

Not a great picture of the wheels, but it’s a better picture of how they actually suit the car I guess.

Nice! Good presence, but not too much. A real gangster’s ride.
